“OCD TEXAS 2014 Conference”

This year OCD TEXAS hosted a two day conference to close out OCD Awareness Week. “Path To Recovery” was the theme of the 4th annual Houston Conference of OCD TEXAS, held on Friday and Saturday, October 17-18, 2014. The conference offered attendees the opportunity to hear from adult and adolescent OCD sufferers, along with keynote speakers sharing about their personal journeys with OCD.
Friday evening conference attendees heard from Elizabeth MacIngvale, PhD, who shared about her own treatment experience and the ups and downs of OCD; Brandon Nguyen then shared from his book entitled, Finding the Silver Linings, and the evening ended with an adult panel discussion.
Saturday attendees heard about OCD treatment from Dr. John Hart, as well as from this year’s keynote speaker, Bridget Schabron, sharing her talk entitled “Turning Point.” We also said goodbye to the OCD TEXAS founding president, Irene Tobis,PhD. Afternoon attendees had the option of attending a lecture on trichotillomania with Dr. Suzanne Mouton-Odum and an “Ask the Experts” panel, followed by “Finding Treatment Help” providing locals with information on resources in the Houston area. The day closed out with an opportunity for attendees to participate in participant lead support groups. for attendees to participate in participant lead support groups.
