Treatment for OCD

OCD TEXAS is committed to helping OCD sufferers find effective, affordable treatment in Texas.

Effective, affordable treatment is available! Unfortunately, research indicates that it often takes many years from the time OCD begins for people to get the right treatment. See Treatment of OCD on the IOCDF’s website for information on obstacles to treatment and evidence-based recommendations for first-line treatments for OCD.

IOCDF’s Resource Directory provides a list of individual treatment providers, searchable by location in Texas. The mental health professionals on that list have expressed an interest in treating individuals with OCD, but IOCDF has not investigated these individuals nor does it have the facilities to evaluate their competence in treating OCD; IOCDF does not recommend or endorse the competence or expertise of anyone listed, but merely lists individuals who have indicated that they treat OCD. Attending local support groups in your area or upcoming events of OCD TEXAS is a good way to get recommendations about treatment in your area from people with OCD and their families who have sought treatment or are currently in treatment in Texas.

There are currently two Intensive Treatment Programs in Texas, in Austin and Houston, that offer more than the traditional once- or twice-a-week individual therapy for OCD: the Austin Center for the Treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders (AustinOCD) and the Houston OCD Program. These Intensive Treatment Programs are Institutional Members of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF).
